Acosta added that students could earn up to eight units of college credit in the various levels of Spanish courses being offered on the trip and can enroll in up to two classes that offer honors credit. The cost is $3,195 and includes round-trip airfare, room and board, some meals, instruction and all excursions in the program. Tuition is not included but remains at the regular per-unit price. VALENCIA – Listen to the rhythmic clatter of castanets during a dramatic flamenco performance, enjoy a plate of paella and maybe sip a glass of sangria – and earn college credit. College of the Canyons’ study-abroad trip to Spain offers just that, an immersion in Spanish culture. “I have been doing study abroad for more than five years, and the reason I do this is to be a part of the transformation that I get to see in students that travel abroad,” said Claudia Acosta, chairwoman of the college’s foreign language department. “Students, especially those who have never traveled or left the U.S. before, get to connect academics with the human dimension while making lasting friends and a great support group.” last_img read more
