The Indian summer continues to provide ideal golfing conditions and Barry Harper capitalised on Friday shooting 41pts to take the Friday Open.Club President Michael Neary followed in 2nd place with Hugh Coll from Monaghan taking 3rd. Bobby O’Shea picked up the Gross prize.Results:1. Barry Harper (15) 41pts, 2. Michael Neary, (13) 38pts,3. Hugh Coll (Rossmore) (9) 37pts, (bot)Gross Bobby O’Shea (5) 29ptsSunday 12th of October.Jason Conway continued his consistent performance on Sunday taking 1st place with an excellent score of 40pts. He was pushed all the way by Kevin Mundy on 39pts with Colm Campbell one shot further back on 38pts.Oliver Roche took the Gross with 31pts.Results:1. Jason Conway (5) 40pts 2. Colm (Eir) Campbell (10) 38pts (bot)Gross: Oliver Roche (5) 30ptsThursday SpecialsOur season finished with the traditional overnight away trip.This years trip was to Slieve Russell Golf Club with 26 players travelling.Our tee times were delayed both days due to Fog but once the fog cleared the sun came out and the weather was perfect for Golf. Once again it was a very enjoyable trip for everyone who travelled.The winner on Saturday was Gerrard Gallagher with 36 pts, 2nd Place went to Barry Kennedy with 35 pts.The two men who only played on Saturday won the last 2 prizes with Roy Harron taking 3rd place on a break of tie with 32 pts, John Joe Travers was 4th also with 32pts.The winner on Sunday was Liam Mundy with 32 pts on a break of tie, Darren Williamson was 2nd also with 32 pts.John Cassidy was 3rd with 31pts and Raymond Nolan was 4th with 30 pts on a break of tie.Liam Moran won the prize for the longest Drive of the day at the 9th and Stephen Carty won the prize for closest the pin on the 16th.The Overall Prize for the man who played the best Golf over 2 days went to Bobby Beare, returning the best score of the day on Sunday to add 35pts to his 34pts from Saturday for a total of 69pts over the 2 days, he had 6 shots to spare over 2nd place.We could not find an alternative date for our traditional Mixed Greensomes, instead we are rolling in with the Social Committee for the County Colours competition.This will be a Shotgun Start at 1PM on the 25th Oct, Entry Fee is €15 which includes meal after the golf.Entry sheets are on display in the locker rooms, add you name to be included in the draw which will take place on the 21st October.The presentation for the Phoenix Cup and Player of Year will be take place on Saturday the 25th October after the meal.Ladies’ Competitions5th /7th October – 15 holes stableford – Sponsor: Eddie Walsh & Sons Family MeatsOn a beautiful Autumn day, Ursula Miller from Ballintra was the winner of the Eddie Walsh sponsored competition so she won’t have to worry about dinners for the next few weeks!!Runner up was Geraldine Gorman on 28pts. 3rd & 4th were Charlotte Caldwell & Mary Gillen.1. Entry fee is €15 which includes a meal after play. Lists for names are in both locker rooms. URRIS GAA CLUB NOW ACCEPTING CLUB MEMBERSHIP FOR 2016

Adult membership is €25, Student (3rd level and in full time education with Student ID) is €15 and under age is €5 (capped at €20 per family). Anyone playing football for the club must have their membership paid up to be covered by insurance in case of injury. Club members will also have first preference on Donegal tickets for the coming season. Fees must be paid in full by March 31st.
