first_imgSource = ETB News: Tom Neale Flight Centre and Events Queensland have announced a multi-faceted commercial partnership to boost visitors to Queensland.The alliance will attempt to market Queensland to global holidaymakers over the next three years and mean that Flight Centre will prioritise promoting Queensland’s destinations to the world.Queensland’s Minister for Tourism and Major Events Jan Stuckey said that the partnership will be a big boost to inbound tourism in the state.“The agreement will see the two partners work more closely to promote travel to Queensland’s destinations from some of the state’s most valuable visitor markets including the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia,” Ms Stuckey said.“This partnership with Australia’s largest travel retailer will promote Queensland as the premier tourist destination and deliver on the election promise to grow tourism as one of the four pillars of the economy.“The Queensland Government’s 20-year plan for tourism Destination Success outlines the importance of partnering with industry to support the growth of tourism in the state, working toward the goal of $30 billion in overnight visitor expenditure by 2020.”Flight Centre managing director Graham Turner said that the agreement means that Queensland’s destinations will be getting the recognition and promotion they deserve year round.“It’s a major destination for our customers in Australia and abroad, particularly in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, so we welcome the opportunity to strengthen our offering for travellers.”“We expect to see the Queensland tourism market grow substantially over the next few years as we gear up for major events such as the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast,” Mr Turner said.last_img read more
