New York – King Mohammed VI appointed on Saturday in Laayoune, Shrifa Lalla Joumala Alaoui, Morocco’s Ambassador to the United States. She will replace Rachad Bouhlal, who held this position since December 6, 2011. During the Council of Ministers he chaired on Saturday, King Mohammed VI appointed 66 new Ambassadors to several foreign capitals. Though the names of the Ambassadors have not been disclosed as ff yet, a source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation confirmed to the Morocco World News the appointment of Lalla Joumala. Before her appointment as Morocco’s Ambassador to Washington D.C., Lalla Joumala held the position of the Kingdom’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom since January 2009. In April of last year, she was granted, in London, the prestigious 2015 “Diplomat Magazine” Award for her outstanding contribution to diplomacy.The prize was awarded to the Moroccan Ambassador in recognition of “her outstanding efforts to reinforce diplomatic action.”Lalla Joumala is King Mohammed VI’s cousin. She is the daughter of the late Princess Lalla Fatim Zahra, the eldest daughter the late King Mohammed V and aunt of King Mohammed VI.
