At what point does that crying baby or your seatmate’s constant snoring break your resolve and cause you to tear out your hair?Singapore Airlines will soon find out once it launches the world’s longest nonstop commercial flight on Oct. 11. Travelling between Singapore’s Changi Airport and Newark Liberty Airport, the extra loooooong-haul flight will travel over 16,000 kilometres and last 18 hours and 45 minutes.We know what you’re thinking – that’s an unbearably long time to be watching movies starring The Rock. But Singapore Airlines is doing everything it can to make sure the flight is not only pleasant, but ultra comfortable.For one thing, it takes place on the new A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) featuring a two-class layout (67 Business Class seats and 94 Premium Economy). Its carbon composite airframe also allows for improved air quality (yes, you actually breathe better onboard).And as long as it may be, the 18-hour flight is actually the quickest way to get one from city to the other. “The flights will offer our customers the fastest way to travel between the two cities – in great comfort, together with Singapore Airlines’ legendary service – and will help boost connectivity to and through the Singapore hub,” said Mr. Goh Choon Phong, Singapore Airlines’ CEO.The route will initially be served three times a week, departing Singapore on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Daily operations will kick off Oct. 18 after an additional A350-900ULR aircraft enters service.
